Story
Robert Arndt
Founder & Principal Designer
I grew up remodeling houses with my parents in Minnesota, where I learned how construction, materials, and design decisions shape the way we live. Since then, I’ve lived in 29 homes—and that personal experience continues to inform how I think about space, flow, and comfort.
After earning my Master of Architecture from Montana State University, I spent more than a decade designing custom homes across Montana, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Minnesota. I’ve worked in both architecture and construction, including at two integrated design-build firms, which taught me to think as both a designer and a builder.
Now, through Artifact, I’m excited to create homes with clients on my own terms—working closely with them to design spaces that reflect how they want to live, and how they want to feel.
Outside of work, I’m usually playing hockey, cooking, or out in the mountains with Kiri, our two kids, and our dog.
Kiri Arndt
Co-Founder & Studio Manager
I grew up in Hamilton, Montana, and after nearly a decade living and working in the Pacific Northwest with Robert, we returned to Missoula to raise our family. I’ve helped shape Artifact from the beginning—building the business, refining our systems, and supporting the design process from behind the scenes.
I manage studio operations, keep things organized, and handle invoicing and communication touchpoints as needed. While Robert leads most client-facing coordination, I care deeply about creating a calm, rewarding experience and making sure every detail runs smoothly.
My background in healthcare and small business has shaped how I approach this work—with attentiveness, clear communication, and a deep respect for trust. It’s incredibly meaningful to support this practice—and to build something lasting with Robert.
Outside the studio, you’ll find me hiking, planning our next trip, playing board games, or reading with our kids.
“A building is not just a structure; it is a piece of history, a timeless artifact.”
— Frank Lloyd Wright
